Nearwave Privacy Policy

Effective September 15, 2026

Ordinary messages

Nearwave end-to-end encrypts message content on your device. Its optional internet relay stores only opaque routing tags, encrypted envelopes, delivery timing, and an anonymous installation identifier long enough to deliver queued messages. The developer cannot read ordinary relayed messages.

Push notifications

An Apple push token and opaque conversation tags are stored to notify your device that encrypted content is waiting. Lock-screen notifications contain no message text.

Reports

If you choose Report or Block and Report, the selected message, sender display name, and anonymous technical identifiers are sent to the developer so the report can be reviewed and acted on. Report data is not used for advertising or tracking.

Retention

Encrypted relay envelopes expire within 30 days. Inactive push registrations expire within 180 days and are removed earlier when Apple reports that a token is no longer valid. Safety reports are retained only as needed to investigate abuse, document action, and prevent repeated misuse.
