Nearwave Terms of Use

Effective September 15, 2026

Safety and conduct

Nearwave has zero tolerance for objectionable content, harassment, threats, exploitation, hate, sexual content involving minors, or abusive users. You must use Nearwave only with people and rooms you trust and must not send unlawful, dangerous, or abusive material.

Content filtering

Nearwave prevents known high-risk text from being sent, automatically hides matching received text, and hides received photos until the recipient deliberately chooses to view them.

Reporting and blocking

You can report a received message or block its sender from the message menu. Blocking immediately removes that sender’s content from your device and rejects future content from that identity. Reports are sent to the developer when an internet connection is available and are reviewed within 24 hours. Confirmed abusive content and queued relay content from that identity are removed, its push registration is disabled, and the responsible identity is ejected from Nearwave relay services. Devices cache the current safety blocklist so local Wi-Fi and Bluetooth messages from ejected identities are rejected after safety synchronization.

Offline limits

Bluetooth and local Wi-Fi communication can operate without the developer’s servers. Safety enforcement synchronizes whenever internet access returns. Your local block remains effective immediately while offline.

Privacy

Ordinary messages are end-to-end encrypted. The relay stores opaque encrypted envelopes. When you deliberately report content, the selected content and limited technical identifiers are disclosed to the developer for safety review.
