Install the same current build, enter the same private 16-character secure room code on both phones, and allow Bluetooth, Local Network, Notifications, and Nearby Interaction when requested. Each phone needs to open Nearwave once to register with Apple Push; afterward, the encrypted internet/cellular relay can queue messages even while the app is closed.
Guest networks may isolate devices on different access points. Nearwave tries local Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in parallel. When internet or cellular service is available, the end-to-end encrypted relay can bridge isolated access points without requiring both apps to be open together.
Allow Notifications. Apple Push can show a lock-screen alert and app-icon badge when encrypted content is waiting. iOS may not relaunch an app that a user force-quits; reopen Nearwave after force-quitting it.
Confirm both phones use the exact same 16-character secure room code and each has opened Nearwave once after installation. Check notification permission, toggle Bluetooth once, reopen Nearwave, and use Recover Connection. For developer contact, visit jonathancoffin.com.
